Sutovic & Hartigan solicitors is delighted to have been invited to join the award-winning Protea Clinic, a collaboration between King’s College London Law Clinic, Hibiscus Initiatives and Hammersmith & Fulham Law Centre. The clinic provides legal advice to vulnerable migrant females and victims of modern slavery.
Participation in the Clinic brings multiple benefits. We are able to reach and assist clients who otherwise would not have access to high quality legal advice - women who have been marginalised through poverty, language barriers or involvement in the criminal justice system, and whose immigration cases are complex, interwoven with other social issues, and not easily resolved. It also enables us to work with the inspirational students at Kings’ Law Clinic and play our part in developing the next generation of lawyers.
With access to legal aid for immigration advice increasingly restricted and the impact of the hostile environment ever more evident, projects such as the Protea Clinic which assist people to regularise their status and take their full place in society become ever more important. We are proud to be part of this vital work and to have seen and advised our first clients with Protea. We look forward to assisting many more.
